I <3 Salt Water

Everyone knows that a salt solution is very versatile, and it really is. This past week I have been using it quite a bit, and I thought I’d share my top 3 ways to use it.

I like to use it as a toner sometimes on my skin. As I mentioned in my skin care routine, I use a toner from LUSH, which helps balance out the oils on my skin. I feel that a salt water toner helps draw out impurities, and it is super cheap and easy. You can use it as a daily toner or like me use it every now and then for some special maintenance. To make a toner yourself, put some warm water into a spray bottle. It doesn’t have to be hot, just on the warmer side so the salt dissolves easily. I recommend using sea salt and adding little by little. It shouldn’t sting when you put it on your face, but you should still feel it. And be careful of your eyes!!

I haven’t been feeling too good this past week, and my throat has started to feel a bit sore. Not to worry though because a simple salt and warm water rinse does the trick! Make sure the salt is dissolved in the water before you gargle with it. I like to do it 2 times a day using a half glass of water each time.

I got my first helix piercing last weekend, and I made the mistake of sleeping on my ear one night. It hurt so bad and it was red and a bit swollen, but didn’t seem to be infected. For this one I would recommend buying rather than making a saline (salt) solution to be on the safe side. The one I bought was from the shop that did my piercing, and it’s Wound Wash by NeilMed. I sprayed it on my piercing and it helped with the slight throbbing. This spray is great because it comes in a spray can, and sprays from any direction which means I can easily get the back of my ear. But don’t forget your piercer knows best! Listen to them.

Fall 2015 Skin Routine!

Recently I have settled into an effective routine with my skin. I have combo skin, so my skin routine is ever-changing. Especially with the fall sports season (the only time I play a sport) I have tried to find a skin care routine to help nourish my skin. For the past few months I have developed my current routine, that is great even with winter coming up! Keep reading to hear all about it.

For my face wash, I have been using the Clearasil Daily Clear Oil-Free Daily Face Wash. My previous cleanser would make my face feel tight afterwards, but this face wash cleans my skin without making it feel dry.

In the shower I use the St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub in addition to my cleanser. I put a thin layer on my entire face after I have put conditioner in my hair and then scrub my face with it at the very end of my shower. My skin is not very sensitive so I can use this fairly often throughout the week.

As I mentioned before, I have combo skin, so my skin is both oily and dry. To help balance this I use the LUSH Tea Tree Water toner after I have washed my face. This toner is for very oily skin, so beware if you want to try it. They also have other toners. I spritz it on and then wait for it to soak in a bit before I put on my lotions.

I have two lotions that I use, the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer and the Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer. I put the Aveeno one all over my face, and will sometimes use the Clean & Clear depending on the state of my skin. If I am not breaking out, I won’t use it. If I am I will either mix it with the Aveeno lotion and then apply all over my face, or just on my T Zone.

If I have some acne at the time, I use the Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10 Spot Treatment. Another product I will use only part of the time is Lavender Oil. It simply depends on how my skin is feeling.

The last 2 product I use are not everyday products, but I use them at regular intervals. I use Biore Pore Strips about 1 a week. I only use them on my nose, but they sell once that you can use on your chin or forehead. I also like to use masks. LUSH has a great one, Mask of Magnaminty, but I haven’t had a chance to go buy it, so I just bought one from Walgreens a month or two ago. The one I got is the Eclos Skin Renewal Clay Mask. I use it twice a week and I absolutely love it. Both of these products have made a HUGE difference in the texture and appearance of my skin.

Remember everyone has different types of skin and what works for me may not work for you, but I hope this post what somewhat helpful and you enjoyed reading it!
